Announcing EssayGrader 2.2 🎉 More Control, Fewer Clicks, Better Grading!

🎉 Hello teachers!

We're excited to share the latest updates in EssayGrader! As promised, we’re rolling out new features every month. With Version 2.2, grading is now faster, simpler, and even more accurate—helping you save time on clicks and focus on providing valuable feedback to your students.

What’s new in EssayGrader 2.2?

A New Way to organize student submissions (If You Want To!)‍

If you’re grading assignments either natively or through Google Classroom, you’ll notice some small but powerful changes that bring flexibility and organization to your grading flow. We have added the ability to create Classes and Assignments in this flow.

‍🎓 Why Use Classes and Assignments?

  • Classes: Picture this as a tidy way to organize all your student submissions and assignments in one place. Optional, but if you like order, this is for you!
  • Assignments: Adding Assignments lets you input the “writing prompt” you gave students and even add “source materials” they referenced. In our internal tests with 1000s of assignments, having these in place made the grading more accurate—so you get the peace of mind that the AI is aligned with your expectations.

➡️ Goodbye to Page Hopping: Essay Pagination is Here!

How many times have you had to click back and forth between essays and feedback reports just to finish grading a batch? With EssayGrader 2.2, you don’t have to anymore. Now, you can review, approve, and move on to the next essay all on the same page—making your grading flow much smoother!

✨ Have full control over your Feedback Report downloads

We know that saving and sharing feedback is essential. Now, in addition to copy and print options, you can download feedback and error reports as PDFs in a single click. This makes it easy to share feedback with students or archive for your records. Plus, you can customize your PDF by selecting what to include—whether it's the original essay, feedback report, error report, or even hiding grades 👈🏼 this is huge!

🐥 Improved Easy and Strict Grading Intensity Controls

We have listened to your feedback and updated the Easy and Strict settings. In our internal tests, we noticed a clear delineation between Easy, Normal and Strict settings. Not just the scores, but also the contextual feedback. So, make sure to try them out in your next round of grading.

🔮 Easily Rename Those Mysterious Files

We’ve all been there—no matter how often you remind students to name their files properly, there’s always a “my_essay_final_final.pdf” or “Essay.doc” in the bunch 😆. Now, with a single click, you can rename these files to keep the entire grading batch clear and consistent.
